A series of regional forums hosted by the N.C. Thinking Ahead!
transportation working group to gather public comment on the state's
future
transportation needs begins today and runs until Oct. 17. For more
information on where and when these forums are being held, please visit
the
NCDOT News Release page by clicking on the "NCDOT News" link at
www.ncdot.org.
Along with the forums, N.C. Thinking Ahead! also encourages citizens to
participate in a special Internet survey on transportation issues in
North
Carolina. The survey is posted at www.ncdot.org.
>From the main page, click on the "Thinking Ahead! Survey" link. The poll
can also be accessed by going directly to
http://apps.dot.state.nc.us/survey/PIONCTAsurvey.aspx
Individuals without Internet access can call the NCDOT Customer Service
Office at 1-877-DOT-4YOU to take the poll over the phone.
The five-question poll will be available through the end of October. The
questions will help Thinking Ahead! working group members gauge how
important transportation issues are to North Carolinians and which
transportation needs are top priorities for the public.
N.C. Thinking Ahead!, a transportation working group formed at the
direction
of Gov. Mike Easley, brings together a wide range of transportation
stakeholders and experts from across the state and is charged with
examining
short-term transportation needs such as safety, maintenance and economic
development, as well as studying solutions to help address the resources
necessary to implement NCDOT's long-range statewide transportation plan.
