City of Durham Hosts Final “Mulch Madness” Giveaway Day March 25

Durham Residents Will Receive Free Compost and Mulch
 
Durham, N.C. – If Durham residents missed last Saturday's “Mulch Madness”
giveaway event, their second chance to receive free compost and mulch is
Saturday, March 25 during the final day of the City’s event. 
 
The City’s Department of Solid Waste Management will again be giving away
compost and mulch at the Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, located at
2115 East Club Boulevard, Durham, from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., for as long
as supplies last. 
 
Scores of Durham residents have already attended the first Saturday of
this event to take advantage of the City's free compost and mulch
giveaway.   "The first Saturday of ‘Mulch Madness’ was a tremendous
success," said Brian Haynesworth, waste reduction coordinator with the
City's Department of Solid Waste Management.  "In just over four hours, we
provided free compost and mulch to over 160 Durham residents.  We
anticipate another great turnout this Saturday and encourage our citizens
to take advantage of our final Saturday giveaway day." 
 
Residents should look for the mulch giveaway signs to enter through the
special entrance off of East Club Boulevard for the event.  The final
giveaway day is limited to city and county residents in approved vehicles,
which are pick-up trucks and trailers less than 8-feet and non-commercial
vehicles.  Residents must also have a tarp to properly cover their loads.
