                      Yes, it¹s that time again!

The Historic preservation society of Durham¹s acclaimed
Oral history tour season begins this
weekend!

Hundreds of Durham residents and visitors alike have been educated and
entertained on these free guided walking tours which use actual quotes and
interviews by Durham citizens and others, including Dr. Martin Luther King.

So get out and enjoy this beautiful spring weather, take a tour to learn
about your community, and catch a film at full frame to boot!

The 2006 walking tour season offers three opportunities a month from April
through November:

Second Saturdays‹Durham¹s Tobacco Heritage, a walking tour that delves into
the industry that literally put Durham on the map. Stories of tobacco
warehouse workers, farmers, musicians and others bring this history to life.

Third Saturdays‹Durham¹s Civil Rights Legacy, a walking tour that examines
the times, the people, and the businesses that gave a unique flavor to the
Durham protest movement.

Fourth Saturdays‹Durham¹s Architecture and Landscape, a walking tour that
uses the architecture of downtown to reflect on Durham¹s identity as a
community past, present, and future.

All walks are free
begin at 10 AM at the Durham Farmers Market, across from Measurement Inc.
(423 Morris Street), rain or shine. Tours last from 1 to 2 hours.
No need to reserve a space.
