Documentary Showing Friday, July 28Durham Premiere of Film Which Offers Innovative Solutions for Developing our Land and Managing Water

"Reining in the Storm - One Building at a Time" will have its Durham premiere at Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on Friday, July 28 at 7:30 p.m. Public radio WUNC The State of Things talk show host Frank Stasio narrates this 30-minute documentary film that has been shown throughout the U.S. It shows how we can build buildings and develop land in a manner that prevents flooding, improves stream water quality, reduces landscaping water use and maintains dry basements. The film was commissioned by the Commonwealth of Virginia and has been shown in all local jurisdictions of both Virginia and Massachusetts. It has also been shown at hundreds of conferences, workshops and film festivals throughout the world. The concept in the film is called Low Impact Development, and "Reining in the Storm" has become a primary tool for promoting this ancient and revolutionary concept for developing land. Filmmaker Dave Eckert (Duke 1970) will be present at the showing and will host a Q & A period following the film. Admission is free. ERUUF is located at 4907 Garrett Road, Durham, half mile east of 15-501. Care Building, Rooms 6 & 8. Sponsored by Environmental Initiative Committee of ERUUF.
