MARY ROCAP
Mary has been an active and versatile member of the Triangle¹s Music
community for the last thirty years. She was part of the R&B band Lise
Uyanik and Mobile City. She never aspired to be a songwriter, but upon
reaching her forties she realized that she had songs to write. She now
performs as a solo artist.

GENERATIONS: featuring ADIA LEDBETTER
Generations is a five-piece jazz ensemble consisting of some of the most
seasoned jazz musicians around the triangle. This talented group features
jazz vocalist Adia Ledbetter, chosen as an outstanding performer by DOWNBEAT
magazine and was selected to participate in the 2006 Kennedy Center Betty
Carter Jazz Ahead, international jazz residency and performance project.

GREG TAYLOR
Greg Taylor is a DAC CAPS artist. When he was 14 as a result of being
grounded, Greg started to play the guitar. He moved to France on a ³vision
quest² He started writing his own songs. When he returned home, he performed
in a local coffee shops and got involved in the music community. He started
to build a reputation for his songwriting and musicianship, Greg started
teaching guitar, and music for children.

 JULE BROWN
Jule Brown¹s (pka Mark Holland) style is defined by "in-the-rack" harmonica
virtuosity and a driving claw hammer guitar style based on Delta blues
master Charley Patton. As a songwriter, he spans the entire American roots
genre.  His new release, Smoke and Mirrors, moves effortlessly through 10
original tracks and 1 cover of roots music with a mixture of socially
conscious and introspective lyrics.  The track "Can't Get it Right" recently
placed 2nd in the 2005 Billboard World Song Contest.

uPtick
uPtick is a group of talented players and crooners from the 125 year old
investment firm, Smith Barney.  Not satisfied to rely on their ability to
³Earn It² the ³Old Fashioned Way², uPtick and the Durham Smith Barney office
are determined to help Durham get in a groove with their music, dubbed by
critics ³Country Soulgrass.²  uPtick has been defined by some as ³Wall
Street Trailer Trash,² and the band tends to agree with the description.
Most importantly, uPtick loves to have fun. One highlight of the uPtick
appearance at Centerfest will be a special appearance by the long retired
Country Soul singer, Colin Barker.

MILAGRO SAINTS
This rootsy ³soulfolk² appeals to everyone looking for everything from the
original singer-songwriter to the instrumental improvised jam. The Milagro
Saints offer a unique harmony based fusion of folk, rock and soul.

SUNNY PERFORMANCE ARTS GROUPS ³TA GE² AND ³A. MI ZI²

Sunny Performing Arts Group is the Chinese culture and performance group in
the Research Triangle Park (RTP) area of North Carolina.  It consists of
more than 20 Asian artist performances to promote the awareness, education,
appreciation and innovation of Asian culture and performing arts.

THE BOUNCING BULLDOGS
The Bouncing Bulldogs Rope Skipping Team is currently comprised of over 100
boys and girls, ranging in age from 5 to 22, from the metropolitan triangle
area of Chapel Hill, Durham and Hillsborough, North Carolina. Team members
perform more than 400 synchronized tricks and maneuvers using a combination
of single and double dutch ropes. Their innovative rope skipping style
includes fancy footwork, flips and other acrobatic stunts. The jumpers
choreograph their own individual routines and all team routines to music.
The team currently has dozens of national championship titles in single and
double dutch events. The Bouncing Bulldogs are proud to have won USAJRF
Grand National Trophies in Speed and Freestyle as well as the Overall
Champion Title at the 2005 National Championships held in Orlando in June.

PHYSICS OF MEANING
A violin player since the age of 3, Daniel Hart, lead songwriter for the
Physics of Meaning favors orchestral instruments (violin, cello, oboe,
glockenspiel) in his arrangements that balance Alex Lazara's engineering
expertise with thick guitars, analog keyboards, and distorted drums.  The
result: breakthrough electronic indy-rock that the band shares with
audiences all around the country.

HOLLAND MARIE
A sophomore at Campbell University, Holland Marie was the winner of FOX 50¹s
³Gimme the Mic² Contest.  A rising country singing star, Holland Marie hopes
to make a career of singing.
 
LUCY SUMNER AND THE SECOND THIRD
Lucy Sumner and The Second Third focuses on soulful, heartfelt, folk, jazz,
and blues influenced original music. Lucy, born and raised in Fajardo,
Puerto Rico, was recently a finalist on Fox 50¹s ³Gimme the Mic² and joins
The Second Third's whose focus is on improvisational original material and
unique interpretations of cover tunes. Their explorations range from slow,
meditative new age musings, funky world beat rhythms and renown hits from
all eras of jazz, blues and pop.

MIDTOWN DICKENS
Midtown Dickens is a sweet and savvy duo with enough presence and energy to
make you doubt that it¹s a two piece.  Kym and Catherine play a banjo,
musical saw, drums, tambourine, trumpet, trombone, harmonica and a shiny red
electric guitar, the alt-country/ folk roots turned indy-rock with a punchy
minimalism compliments bold lyrics and ethereal harmonies.

BRUCE PIEPHOFF
Bruce Piephoff was born and raised in North Carolina. He is a
singer/songwriter with 14 CDs of original folk/blues and spoken poetry. He
dropped out of college at UNC-Chapel Hill after two years to ply his trade
as a traveling singer/songwriter and hitchhiked across the country  several
times playing at little bars and cafes.

RALEIGH JAZZ ORCHESTRA
The RJO was organized as a not for profit arts institution in January, 2003
in collaboration with the Raleigh Symphony <http://www.raleighsymphony.com/>
to create professional performance opportunities for jazz musicians. Our
mission is to preserve and promote our nation's indigenous art form, jazz.
The RJO is a professional jazz ensemble under the direction of Dr. Neal Finn

THE PHARMERS
Winning See Saw Studio¹s Battle of the Bands, GlaxoSmithKline¹s in-house
band The Pharmers will rock CenterFest on Sunday afternoon.

NC-RTP CHINESE INSTRUMENTAL ORCHESTRA
A 20-piece Chinese Instrumental Orchestra made of members of The
Chinese-American Friendship Association (CAFA) based in the RTP.

PAUL MILLER¹S FLOW CIRCUS
A self-proclaimed counter-isolationist, Paul uses performance to draw people
out of day-to-day pre-occupation and unite them in shared experience. Since
moving to North Carolina in 2002, he continues to perform his unique blend
of circus arts and magic to positively affect all he encounters.
 
DURHAM JAZZ ORCHESTRA
An 18-piece Big Band Jazz Orchestra based in Durham.
 
POLKA PLUS BAND
Polka Plus Band was formed in 1991 as a hobby band. The makeup of the band
are musicians from all walks of life. The band plays a variety of music from
polka, waltz, rock & roll, swing and ballads.

RIGHT TURN CLYDES
A 5-piece bluegrass band, this group hails from many different backgrounds.
James Goodfellow, on mandolin, has been picking & writing bluegrass &
traditional music for nearly a decade.   After studying classical bass for a
number of years, Marc Alperin picked up a Fender and experimented with rock,
blues, and country before moving to Fairbanks, Alaska where he found his
true calling: bluegrass bass.  While solidly rooted in bluegrass, Pat Riley
enjoys the Clydes' occasional ventures into country, rock, and blues as
well. Besides playing the banjo, Shane o'donnell  lends his high tenor voice
to the Clydes and contributes an occasional lead vocal. Larry Karnowski grew
up on rock n' roll and only recently fell in love with traditional Americana
music and plays the fiddle.

FLAMENCO CAROLINA
Flamenco Carolina is a group of aficionados of flamenco dance who study and
perform at various venues throughout the Triangle. They have performed at La
Fiesta del Pueblo, UNC Hospital, Ritmo Latino in Cary and many other
non-profit organizations.

BARON TYMAS TRIO
The Baron Tymas Trio makes fiery, beautiful, original jazz music that draws
inspiration from bebop, funk, rock, blues, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, reggae,
and West African Traditions. Tymas is an assistant professor of music at
North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC.  At NCCU, he is head of the
guitar program and Assistant Director of Jazz Studies.  He is a dynamic and
passionate performer, composer and educator, who performs regularly in the
southeast and occasionally throughout the U.S. and abroad.
