INC NEWS - Scam alert: kids selling magazines in our neighborhoods

Hi,

Last week, a couple of kids were working our neighborhood, selling
incredibly overpriced magazine subscriptions.

The selling spiel goes something like: "I'm the son of ___, who lives on
___. You may have seen her; she walks her dog around 8am. Anyway, I'm trying
to raise money so I can play in a youth baseball tournament in Maui..."

As you may have guessed, there is no neighbor named ___ or a baseball
tournament in Maui. The company that employs these kids (and probably trains
them in the art of effective lying) are major scammers. I¹ve done some
research, and it looks like they¹re very, very shady. They¹ve been booted
from the Better Business Bureau, and they¹ve changed their name multiple
times.

This company is using the fact that we care about neighbors (and their kids)
to sell magazines, which is the only reason I got sucked into their story.
And they're teaching kids some really bad habits.

I¹ve contacted the NC Attorney General¹s office about the practices of the
company. I¹m filing a formal complaint, so the company can be contacted and
pressured a bit. The more people who file a complaint, the better.

You can download a complaint form from the Attorney General¹s site. Here¹s
the link to the complaint form page:

I appreciate your help. Thanks!
Alice
