INC NEWS - City Names Interim DPR Director

Durham, N.C. - City Manager Patrick Baker announced today that Rhonda
Parker will act as the interim director for the City's Department of Parks
and Recreation (DPR).  Parker is filling the position effective
immediately.  The former director, Darrell Crittendon, is leaving DPR to
accept the position of director for Recreation, Parks and Open Space for
the City of Norfolk, Va.
 
Parker has been serving as the assistant director for DPR's Recreation
Programs and Facilities for more than two years.  Prior to joining DPR,
Parker was the recreation superintendent for Parks, Recreation and Tourism
for the City of Newport News, Va.
 
With over 30 years of experience in recreation programming, supervision
and management, Parker received both a master's in Management with an
emphasis on Business and Public Policy and a bachelor's degree in
Sociology and Social Work from Hampton University in Hampton, Va.
 
According to Baker, the City will begin immediately searching for a
permanent director.
