Parents fear not. A correction to the earlier post needs to be made. "Orcastrating" should read "Orchestrating". This was my careless editing of Connie's original post to the CVNA list. Many thanks for all the "clever" replies I got on that one. -Ken Gasch

Subject: Kids Needed: Parade - Decorate and RIDE on the INC float, December 2nd!

(Forwarded for Connie Roth. Please forward to your own neighborhoods if not already included. We are float #34. Happy Holidays!!!)

Need a holiday pick-me up? Come out and join the holiday festivities this Saturday. We're working with the Inter-Neighborhood Council on a float -- our CVNA kids are orcastrating the decoration of the float that is being entered in the parade by INC. Kids from every neighborhood are invited to participate!

We have a truck and a 16-foot trailer and are working on a fun Grinch theme. Dress your kids up in their holiday clothes ride or walk along with the float. Kids of all ages are welcome! We have a few adults that can give some older kids a ride to the parade if parents can't drive them downtown or want to go down a little later.

  When: Saturday, December 2nd
          Float decorating: 11am
          Departure Time: 12:30pm
          Parade Time: 2pm-4pm

  Where:
Float decorating: 2518 Cascadilla Street (back yard, call 220-0351 if you get lost on the way)
Parade: Downtown Durham / Morgan Street Loop

It would be fun to have the kids dress up in holiday clothes like the Who-Ville people from the Grinch story. We can pull it off with just holiday-themed clothes, but it would be great if someone had some funny wigs, top hats, bowler hats, or vests to donate to help 'dress up' for the occasion. I had to watch the Grinch movie again to refresh my memory on what "Who-ville" people looked like. (:-)

If you have some decorations you'd like to add to the float, please bring them along. We have a 7' inflatable Grinch on his sled, "snow" for the bottom of the trailer and some signs, but the rest is yet to be seen on Saturday. We have a generator for the Grinch, so we could plug in other electrical items -- maybe someone has some really obnoxious colored bulb lights (I don't think white ones would show up). I don't have a stereo/speakers to play music, but would love to play the Grinch soundtrack loud enough to let people know we're coming down the road (and drown out the generator). Use your imagination! (;-)

A bunch of spaces still remain! Let me know and we will hold one open for you. connie at durham-cvb.com
