A storage shed filled with thousands of books destined
for the April 13-15 Friends of the Durham Library Book
Sale was destroyed by fire on March 6, 2007. The
Friends of the Durham Library needs donations now to
ensure that its upcoming booksale will be a success.

The profits from the organization's booksales, held
three times each year, support important Library
services, programs and collections. The Friends
especially needs to restock its children's materials
and special collections - desirable, unique or rare
books in gift-giving condition. The shed was filled
with these resources, which bring in as much as half
of the profits during each of the book sales. The
books are also important to the community; hundreds of
teachers, parents and children shop the sales to
purchase affordable books and audio-visual resources.
