Subject: City of Durham Impact Fee Discussions

Since 1989, the City of Durham has charged impact fees for the impact of new development on our streets, parks/recreation and open space systems. The City’s ordinance requires us to periodically review the fee schedule. We have just completed a study to update cost estimates and review the methodology for calculating impact fees, which changed the maximum allowable rates we can charge. The City will discount the maximum allowable fee to come up with an impact fee schedule that will be charged on new development. Impact fees are used to fund capital projects that expand capacity in our streets, parks/recreation and open space systems.

To learn more about how we calculate the maximum allowable impact fees and to begin discussing an appropriate fee level for Durham , you are invited to attend a Public Information Workshop. The workshop is open to the public; if you know of others that would be interested in the discussion, please pass this information on to them.
