Schedule of Events for National Crime Victims Rights Week, 2007 (4/22-4/28).

Monday, April 23             Arm Yourself With Information
                    11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Police Department display and Victim Services staff in City Hall Lobby
will provide information    on Personal Safety, Victim Assistance and
local Crime Victims’ Rights Week events.

 

Tuesday, April 24               Coffee Time with Seniors    
                      9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Warm up to Victim Services staff at the new Durham Center for Senior Life,
406 Rigsbee

Street. Topics include establishing a safety plan, victims’ rights and
victim assistance.

 

Wednesday, April 25          When Violence Hits Home
                                   1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Women of all races are invited to a Domestic Violence Forum at El Centro
Hispano               

(201 W. Main Street) to learn about proper emergency reporting procedures
and financial

banking opportunities.

 

Thursday, April 26                     Ice Cream
Socials                              5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Chill out with family and friends at Cold Stone Creamery stores in Durham!
Enjoy a free          ice cream creation!  A child-friendly event.  Store-
Location: Patterson Place (Witherspoon Blvd. off 15-501) Suite 103.

 

Friday, April 27             March Against Violence & Candlelight Vigil

Registration:  5:30 p.m.          March:  6:30 p.m.

Candlelight Vigil:  7:30 p.m.

   (Begins/End at Police Headquarters, 505 W. Chapel Hill Street)

Join the Durham Police Department and City employees in a march against
violence. Bring your family, including children. A candlelight vigil will
follow to show support for all victims of crime.

 

Saturday, April 28        Tribute to Silent Victims Banquet          
         7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Non-surviving victims of violent crimes will be honored during this
special observance at the  Durham Center For Senior Life, 406 Rigsbee
Street. Individuals and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding
service and support to victims of crime will also be recognized.  Doors
open at 6:30 p.m.
