Residents Can Still Access Seven Other Recycling Centers Within City


Durham, N.C. – One of the City of Durham's recycling drop-off centers,
located at the Oxford Commons Shopping Center at 3500 Roxboro Road, will
be permanently closed on Monday, May 7, 2007.

As the City works to find an alternative location, residents are urged to
not leave recyclables at this site and instead use the other seven
drop-off sites located throughout the city.

These seven recycling drop-off sites are located at the following addresses:

·         Festival Shopping Center, 3457 Hillsborough Road

·         Heritage Square Shopping Center, 401 East Lakewood Avenue

·         Southern Boundaries Park, 3400 Third Fork Drive

·         Northgate Mall, 1058 West Club Boulevard (behind Office Depot)

·         TFC Recycling, 1017 South Hoover Road

·         Village Shopping Center, 1100 North Miami Boulevard

·         Waste Disposal & Recycling Center,** 2115 East Club Boulevard
** Not a 24-hour site. Open Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

All of the following items can be recycled at these drop-off centers:

·         Glass bottles and jars

·         All plastic bottles (no jars or tubs)

·         Steel and aluminum food and beverage cans

·         Newspaper

·         Corrugated cardboard

·         Magazines and catalogs

·         White and colored office paper

·         Mixed paper (i.e. phone books, dry food/material boxes and junk
mail)


County residents may also drop off recyclables (not solid waste) at the
following Durham County Convenience Centers:

·         Highway 55 and T.W. Alexander Drive (Parkwood)

·         Quail Roost Road and Ball Road (Bahama)

·         Redwood Road and Electra Drive (Redwood)

·         Hwy 501 North and Bill Poole Road (Rougemont)
