Mosquito Control
You can help safely and effectively decrease the number of mosquitoes by
limiting their breeding sites --- removing sources of standing water. A
bottle cap can hold enough water for mosquitoes to breed. Clogged roof
gutters are a key source for mosquitoes. (If gutters are not hung at a
proper downward slope water will accumulate.) Check carefully for standing
water in your yard than drain or fill areas where stagnate water has been
located. If you have any culverts or ditches try to clean them so that water
moves freely. Empty, remove, cover or turn upside-down any container that
will hold water.
Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis (Bti) granules or doughnuts can help
combat mosquito larvae where water cannot be removed. Bti is considered the
environmentally-friendly alternative to chemical insecticides for
mosquitoes.
Hang bat houses because mosquitoes is a source of their food.
If you would like more suggestions about common mosquito breeding sites let
me know.
Please pass the word about mosquito breeding.
