Event Highlights Economic Performance in 2007; Advance Tickets Now
Available

Durham, N.C. - Citizens interested in an update on Durham's economic
performance in 2007 should mark their calendars now for the 10th Annual
State of Durham's Economy Breakfast, on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, from
7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Durham Civic Center, located at 201 Foster
Street.

The breakfast is the City's premiere annual event, discussing issues
such as population, employment, tax base growth, construction activity,
retail sales, commercial real estate markets, downtown growth, quality
of life, crime, visitor impacts, education, manufacturing, small
business, workforce employment and wages, and business development.

The event is sponsored by the City of Durham's Office of Economic and
Workforce Development (OEWD), in collaboration with the Greater Durham
Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Durham, Inc., Durham County and the Durham
Convention and Visitors Bureau.

According to Trisha Gensic, the event coordinator and assistant director
of the City's OEWD, this year's breakfast will include a comparison of
economic statistics from the last 10 years. "This will provide a great
opportunity for our citizens to hear where we were, where we are now,
and what changes the future might hold," Gensic said.

Registration for the event is available online at
www.durhamnc.gov/_ecomm/sodeb or by calling the City's OEWD at (919)
560-4965. Tickets purchased prior to November 29 cost $45 each or $360
for a table of eight. After November 29, tickets will cost $60 each or
$480 for a table of eight.
