INC NEWS - Information regarding Kestrel's neighbors -- there really aren't any...

The following information is from the woman who wrote
the Kestrel petition, as well as an involved neighbor:

"I don't think that [effect on neighbors] will be an
issue for Kestrel Heights. Kestrel is located on South
Alston Ave just south of the intersection with Hwy 54
immediately outside of the boundaries of RTP. It 
is located between a couple of office parks containing
multi-story office buildings and in front of a
warehouse type park. It will be right down the 
road from where the new library is scheduled to be
built (which is itself across the street from Lowe's
Grove Middle School) I think there is a single family
home across the street but that is already impacted by
the Hardee's that abuts its property and other office
properties that surround it. Unfortunately that house
is one that was probably once nestled all by itself on
a sleepy street and is now surrounded by commercial
development."

"The land right beside Kestrel is for sale.  Much of
the land down further down Alston Ave. is restricted
in use because of water run off and other issues.  

One thing to note is that a school will have a lot of
natural or grassed areas.  Ball fields, playgrounds,
etc will keep much of the land from being built up
into office buildings and parking lots.  Tim Dugan,
Kestrel Director, is also talking about looking at a
two story elementary to use less land.  Most of the
surrounding buildings are more than two story.  The
school also goes back toward the RR track which limits
some uses of the areas around it."
