DURHAM COUNTY HELPS CITIZENS ENHANCE THEIR LAWNS

Durham, N.C. – With mandatory water restrictions in place, the citizens of
Durham may find it challenging to maintain their beautiful landscapes.
Despite Stage IV conservation restrictions that clearly prohibit watering
of lawns and grass, the Durham County Center for the North Carolina
Cooperative Extension Service (NCCES), is armed with ways to help your
yard survive the drought.

On February 15, 22, and 29, from 10:00a.m. to noon, the NCCES Durham
County Center and the City of Durham Storm Water Services will partner to
present sustainable landscape workshops.  The presentations will cover
topics such as soil testing, irrigation and mulching techniques, and plant
selection.

“This workshop offers invaluable strategies for sustainable landscape
management that can be implemented year round,” said Michelle Wallace,
Consumer Horticulture Agent for NCCES Durham County Center. “Participants
will learn how to become better gardeners, and environmentally
accountable.”

To register for upcoming workshops, contact the NCCES Durham County Center
at 560-0525, or email prjones at co.durham.nc.us.  To learn more about the
