Durham, N.C. – In North Carolina, the 2008 Primary Election will take
place on May 6.  Citizens of Durham will vote for candidates for Durham’s
County Commissioners, Durham’s District Attorney, three Durham School
Board Seats, President, Governor, United States Senate, United States
House, North Carolina Senate, North Carolina House, North Carolina Council
of State, and North Carolina Judges.  The deadline for Durham’s citizens
to change or update voter registration information is Friday, April 11. 

 “It is important for voters to know that voting is our most important
right and privilege,” said Mike Ashe, Director the Durham Board of
Elections. “Your vote is your voice, let it be heard.”  The Durham Board
of Elections is expecting record-setting numbers of voters to turnout for
primary voting. 

Registered voters are reminded for the following options for voting:

*	One Stop

One Stop Early Voting begins on April 17. Locations for One Stop Voting
are open from 9:00a.m. until 5:30p.m., Monday through Saturday.  One Stop
Voting ends at 1:00p.m. on Saturday, May 3.    

Sites include:  

-Board of Elections Office at 706 W. Corporation Street

                                    -North Regional Library at 221 Milton
Road

-North Carolina Central University Campus: Parish Center   

 Meeting Room, 1400 S. Alston Avenue (The former Holy Cross  

 Catholic Church site) 

 
*	Vote by Mail

Voters interested in voting by mail are asked to call the Durham Board of
Elections at 919-560-0700.  The Board of Elections will mail a ballot to
the individual.  The individual is then responsible for mailing the ballot
back to the Board of Elections.

*	Voter precinct on Election Day

Voters have the option to vote at their home precinct on Election Day. 
Precincts will be open from 6:30a.m. until 7:30p.m. for primary voting on
May 6.
