BLACK POETRY: THE PLAY
 
Black Poetry is a play written to inspire, touch and reach the masses. From
adolescents to seniors, from the educated to the less fortunate Black Poetry
is a motivational work of art. There are 6 lives, 6 different stories, and 6
views of life. Including both personal triumphs and downfalls. Each story is
told through Poetry, Dance, Music and Song. This is a production that talks
about Adversity, Strength, Love, Dreams, and Overcoming. The poems and songs
are all written and performed by local poets, vocalists and musicians. A
Must See Event!

Preservation Durham's free Saturday morning walking tours explore different
aspects of the Downtown Durham Historic District. Meet our entertaining and
well-informed docents on Foster Street at the Durham Farmers' Market at
10:00 a.m. the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Saturday of each month for a glimpse into
the history of the Bull City. Tours describe the tobacco industry in Durham
and its importance in the city's history; the legacy of the Civil Rights
Movement in Durham; and the unique architecture of the city that earned it
National Historic District status in 1974.

Fun, hands-on environmental programs in our backyard parks. From amphibians
to canoeing we will explore the natural world around us. We'll also offer a
monthly night hike, giving participants an opportunity to experience the
fascinating world of nature at night. These programs are open to the general
public, all ages, and are free.  Pre-registration is required only for the
nighthikes, paddle programs, and day trips. For more information on any
