GOOD MUSIC IS HAPPENING IN DURHAM!

This week on Thursday and Friday evenings, join Durham Parks and
Recreation for free performances and music on the CCB Plaza (corner of
Corcoran and Parrish Streets in downtown Durham)

Dasan Ahanu and Picasso present the Jim Crow Jackson Experiment
Thursday, June 19, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Spoken word/Consciousness rap

Amp Truth Records' spoken word artist, Dasan Ahanu, and music producer,
Picasso, collaborate in the Jim Crow Jackson Experiment. "The Jim Crow
Jackson Experiment is somewhat of a preview to our upcoming solo
projects," says Dasan Ahanu. "It allows me to be edgier and reach a
different audience and affords Picasso the opportunity to take more
chances with his music." Dasan is one of the most prolific spoken word
artists to emerge out of North Carolina in recent years, appearing
numerous times on National Public Radio's News & Notes Poetry Corner.
Picasso is best known in the indie hip-hop scene for the stand out
"Splash."

The Dry Heathens, Midnight Gladness and the Backwaits

Friday, June 20, 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
Indie rock

Durham's finest and most popular restaurants are not only known for
great food and atmosphere, but also for the great artists and musicians
they employ. Chances are high in downtown Durham that your favorite
barista is an artist and your favorite bartender is in a rock band! For
June 20 many of the staff wrangled a Friday night off to rock the CCB
Plaza! Enjoy the sounds of roots rock, punk pop and pop gems from the
80's and 90's from three bands made up of restaurant staff in this Third
Friday event.
