Two changes in the UDO are going to the Board of County Commissioners at the end of the month:
TC0700018 says that major and minor special use permits have to consider nearby properties and neighborhoods, not just the properties next door (I think this is positive change)TC0800001 allows higher buildings in the center of Compact Neighborhoods.  I have a small problem with burying these allowances in footnotes.  
There is also a substantial re-write of the UDO sections governing Development Plans, if anyone is interested in talking about these changes.

(UDO):  Text Change TC0700018
proposes revisions to the following sections of the UDO:  Sec. 3.9,
Special Use Permit, paragraph 3.9.1, Applicability, and paragraph 3.9.8,
Criteria for Approval of Major and Minor Special Use Permits; and Sec. 6.10,
Nonresidential Development Intensity, paragraph 6.10.1, Nonresidential
Development Standards.

 

The Durham County Board of
Commissioners will hold a public hearing on TC0700018 on July 28, 2008 at 7:00
p.m. in the Commissioner’s Chambers at 200 East Main Street.  The
text of the proposed change may be viewed at www.durhamnc.gov/council/ord_changes.

“Special Features/Upcoming Land Use Items” at www.durhamcountync.gov/.  Please
