CCB PLAZA
The Beloved Binge, Roxcetera, Fire in the Woods
Thursday, July 31, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Indie chick rock

"Beloved Binge nailed it: Twisted, lo-fi indie homage with just enough
mad science and tongue-in-cheek irony ... the band services up a
stereophonic celebration of jangly off-kilter guitars in the vein of
They Might Be Giants, The Flying Lizards and the B-52's. They accent
tight, catchy little pop songs that at first seem simple, but repeated
listenings reveal the band's wicked humor, and their amazing
less-is-more approach." -Jersey Beat

Once upon a time, in a far away land called Durham, NC, there lived a
band called Roxotica. They were carefree, young, beautiful, and
somewhat mediocre at their instruments. As time passed, however,
Roxotica started to totally rule, and before they knew it they were
wearing fishnets and leather just for fun, not as a clever distraction
from their mediocrity. Then one day an evil monster came along and
defeated Roxotica. That monster was known as marriage/babies/grad
school, aka the "triple threat." Roxotica wasted away, seemingly never
to rock again. But then, many years later, the older, wiser ladies of
Roxotica thought, "Alas, we miss our glam rockin', goat throwin', wig
wearin' ways. Let us re-form and rock this town anew!" Thus, Roxcetera
was born, with Abby Pearce and Mara Thomas on guitars, Beth Turner on
bass, and Amelia V.B. Shull on drums.
