If you didn't see it, this is an interesting editorial on the effect of rising gas prices on where folks are choosing to live.

In particular:
* Great opportunities for re-vitalizing some Durham neighborhoods
* Possible turmoil about in-fill in other older neighborhoods (new construction that isn't just cheap, but need to make sure character fits in)
* Need for affordable new construction, which is obviously hard with the high cost of land, in suburban areas.  I just got back from my hometown in Ohio, where I saw new "decent houses" (costing $200K, maybe) still being built and suddenly realized how little choice someone looking for a new house in Durham has.
