Thanks for sharing this conversation. While I understand that 
underground installation is initially more expensive than pole-power, 
the costs of repetitive routine replacement drop out of the equation. 
While it may be 10 times more expensive to install underground, how many 
times do we have to replace the pole-power infrastructure. In the last 
decade or so, we've had at least 3 major events (2 hurricanes and an 
icestorm) that have destroyed huge portions of our power infrastructure. 
Over the lifetime of a power system, don't these costs become a little 
more balanced? And this doesn't even count the costs of the incessant 
and brutal tree ":trimming" that seems to be a year round activity: What 
do those crews and that equipment cost?
