Tuesday evening, after presentations by proponent Robb Teer and opponent Dallas Woodhouse, the INC voted to ratify the INC Executive Committee's support of the Prepared Food Tax referendum.
Revenues from this tax (about $5 million a year)  will go to improve educational, cultural, and recreational resources in Durham. This revenue will relieve pressure on the general fund, meaning more resources available for street maintenance, fire and police protection.   Research shows 1) about 40% of the revenues will come from people who do not live in Durham, 2) the cost per family is low.
Please alert your neighbors to this important issue for Durham's future. The referendum is on the back of the ballet. Vote "for."
