This toughens up the rules on night clubs in the Central Business District to:

A nightclub or bar
within the Downtown Tier shall be located at least 50 feet from any
existing place of worship within the Dowtown Tier and at least 250 feet
from any other existing place of worship. A nightclub or bar outside of
the Downtown Tier shall be located at least 250 feet from any existing
place of worship. Distance shall be measured from the property line of
the existing place of worship to the property line of the nightclub or bar
and to the property line of any separate parking lot used by the nightclub
or bar.

Please be advised of the
following proposed change to the Durham Unified Development Ordinance
(UDO):  Text Change TC0800007 proposes revisions to the following section
of the Unified Development Ordinance:  Sec. 5.3.4O, Nightclubs or Bars, in
Sec. 5.3, Limited Use Standards/Sec. 5.3.4, Commercial Use Standards. 

 

 The Durham City Council will hold a public hearing on
TC0800007 on December 1, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 101
City Hall Plaza.  The text of the proposed change may be viewed at www.durhamnc.gov/council/ord_changes.
 Once the agenda is finalized, the text and staff memo may be viewed under
“Agendas” at www.durhamnc.gov/council/.
