Dear INC members,
I am pleased to announce the launch of a new program that may greatly
benefit the newest members of your neighborhood -- babies and their
parents. Durham Connects provides free in-home nurse visits to all
parents of newborns in Durham County. Currently in its initial phase,
the universal program now covers about half of the county. We expect the
rest of the county to be covered by 2010. Durham Connects is a
non-profit program and is a collaboration of the Durham Family
Initiative at Duke University and the Durham County Health Department.
It is funded by the Duke Endowment. Our mission is to promote child
well-being by bridging the gap between new parent needs and community
resources. We believe that child and family well-being is a community
wide issue. Durham Connects is an investment in Durham's future. Please
