> County Seeks Citizen Input on Solid Waste Management Plan Update
>
> Durham, N.C. – North Carolina law requires that all counties develop a ten year solid waste management plan and update it every three years. Durham County is currently updating its solid waste management plan and needs citizen input during the planning process. Citizens are invited to participate in the planning process that includes discussion on solid waste goals involving reduction, collection, recycling, disposal, special wastes, illegal dumping and littering, composting and mulching, education, recycled product purchasing and disaster response.
>
> Citizens that desire to make comments on how Durham County should manage its solid waste, waste reduction and recycling programs are invited to attend one of the following meetings:
>
> •	Thursday, April 16, from 6:30p.m. to 8:30p.m., at East Regional Library located at 211 Lick Creek Lane, in the meeting room.
> •	Wednesday, April 29, from 6:30p.m. to 8:30p.m., at North Regional Library located at 221 Milton Road, in the meeting room. This meeting will be held in conjunction with the City of Durham.
>
> For additional information, or to share comments, contact Brian Haynesworth, waste reduction specialist for Durham County, at 919-560-0433 or via email at bhaynesworth at durhamcountync.gov.
