Training Opportunity - Applications Due April 25

Clean Energy Durham is seeking energetic and committed individuals to be trained as what we call “Super Trainers”:  volunteers who teach easy do-it-yourself home energy-saving project techniques to other neighborhood volunteers.  If you like to do hands-on projects and enjoy teaching others, this is a great volunteer opportunity!

Clean Energy Durham is providing 15 hours of Super Trainer training in three sessions during Saturdays in May and June, 2009.  Super Trainer trainees must be able to attend all three sessions.  In return for this free training, Super Trainers must agree to conduct within the following year at least 5 three-hour, in-home, hands-on workshops for neighborhood energy committees working with Clean Energy Durham.

Clean Energy Durham is looking for Super Trainer candidates with the following characteristics:

• excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to present  
information in a way that is clear, thorough, and interesting;

• patience and the ability to work with diverse groups of people with varied knowledge of do-it-yourself projects;

• experience with basic hand tools;

• good writing skills and ability to take notes, write reports and summaries in Microsoft Word on own computer, and email documents to others;

• availability on some weekends and evenings;

• ability to lift up to 25 pounds, use stepladders, and crouch and bend in order to access crawl spaces and reach under refrigerators;

• access to transportation to and from workshop sites;

• promptness and reliability;

• ability to keep organized and prepared, to anticipate problems, and to successfully troubleshoot problems as they arise.
