Hi Melissa and Mike,
Are you going to Jordan Lake for the Memorial Day Weekend? You won't
be alone.

Jordan Lake is definitely a "big time" as Ron Akers recently told the News
and Observer.1 But it's also threatened by pollution
from all the development in the area, and until the Senate passes the
House's Jordan Lake cleanup plan, developers still have a chance to
make things worse.

Ask
your state Senator to protect Jordan Lake.

As I told you last week, House lawmakers just passed a bill that will
protect and restore the reservoir by cutting nitrogen pollution from
strip malls and other developments by up to 35 percent. That's
the good news.
The bad news is that some developers will fight to weaken
the measure in the Senate. They're arguing that new
developments should be able to buy their way out of the pollution
limits in the original rules.
Environmental groups, state officials, 106 House lawmakers, and
towns and cities from Durham to Greensboro have all weighed in
supporting House Bill 239. Let's not let the developers spoil our fun.
Ask your Senator to protect Jordan Lake and oppose attempts
to weaken House Bill 239. Click below:

Then, ask your family and friends to do the same. And enjoy your
Memorial Day weekend.
Sincerely,

Elizabeth Ouzts
