Fast Facts

* The City of Durham is seeking community input and
participation for the next phase of the Northeast Central Durham
Brownfields' Assessment Grant.

* The City is partnering with the U.S. EPA and the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers to conduct a "Vision to Action" Workshop, which is an
interactive tool developed by the US. Army Corps of Engineers to gain
community input and participation in reclaiming abandoned properties.

	*	Participants will be asked to draw and then share their
ideas to weave all of the submitted ideas into a shared community
vision. No art skills are needed to participate in this workshop.

* In accordance with the City's Office of Economic and Workforce
Development Neighborhood Assessment Plan approved by City Council in
2006, the City is actively working to redevelop several key areas.
Brownfields' activities completed thus far have identified several
properties in Northeast Central Durham through community participation,
site inventory, and environmental assessment activities where known or
perceived environmental contamination is complicating proposed
redevelopment activities.
