Bringing play spaces to Durham Central Park is the objective of a new
steering committee formed in May. This group of citizens, which includes
concerned parents, DCP board members, and local business owners, has been
tasked with gathering community input about what types of recreation areas
and playgrounds people would like to see in Durham Central Park.

Answers to a recently activated playground survey (available at
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=ESddg508soZV4ykI7EHK8w_3d_3d ) will
identify what Durham citizens would like in a play space and what features
are important to them. Depending on survey responses, the design of the
space(s) could be geared toward citizens of many ages, from toddlers to
seniors.

The desired outcome is for more Durham citizens to frequent DCP for its
recreation areas beyond the hours of the Farmer's Market. The committee
hopes to engage all interested citizens and plans to hold an open-to-the-
public design workshop at the end of the summer. Please stay tuned to the
website for updates.
