Good Afternoon,
If you happen to do business with the stores below, please be sure to say  
thank you! Recently Durham TRY conducted random Alcohol Purchase Surveys at  
several Alcohol Outlets in Durham.
 
An  alcohol survey verifies that clerks ask to see the  ID of underage 
purchasers. Surveys can take place at a grocery store,  convenience store, ABC 
store or gas station. At the point of purchase,  compliant  Alcohol Outlets 
ask to see the ID of the purchaser and non-compliant  Alcohol Outlets do not. 
It does not matter whether an actual sale is made or  not. This is not a 
compliance check.   


We celebrate  and give a community Thank you! (letter) to compliant sites 
and offer free  training for all employees of sites that are noncompliant.  


According  to research: Alcohol Outlet Surveys  

    *   May  reduce crime and alcohol-related problems, such as traffic 
crashes, fights,  vandalism, noise complaints, and other police calls.  
    *   Easy,  quick, and inexpensive to implement.  
    *   Can  motivate citizen participation and support for reducing youth 
access to  alcohol, sending a strong message that providing alcohol to 
underage persons  is not acceptable
It  is fine if store managers hear from more than one Durham resident.
