Hi Melissa,

On June 30, Gov. Bev Perdue signed into law a plan to cut pollution into Jordan Lake by as much as 35 percent -- great news for those who like to visit for a swim or a hike around the lake, and for those who rely on the lake for their drinking water.

But with the ink from the governor's pen barely dry, developers are already trying to weaken the Jordan Lake cleanup plan in the Legislature.

E-mail your legislators and ask them not to weaken the Jordan Lake cleanup plan at the last minute!

The Jordan Lake cleanup plan will reduce pollution from strip malls and other existing developments near the lake -- the first clean water law of its kind in the state -- and perhaps the nation.

But now, as legislators enter what could be their final week of the session, developers want to change the rules, so that they can buy their way out of pollution reductions.

Your support was essential in making sure lawmakers passed a strong plan to protect Jordan Lake -- one that Environment North Carolina, other environmental groups and numerous cities support.

Now, I need your help to keep developers from weakening the Jordan Lake cleanup plan in the session's 11th hour. Ask your legislators not to allow this last-minute mischief:

P.S. Thanks again for your support. Please feel free to share this e-mail with your family and friends.
