Durham JobLink Mobile Unit Extends Service Dates and Hours at Northgate Mall Beginning Today

Mobile Unit Minimizing Wait Time and Expediting Job Leads for Durham Residents

 

What:              Durham JobLink Mobile Unit Express Service at Northgate Mall

 

Who:               City of Durham, Northgate Mall, Durham JobLink Career Center, State of North Carolina Division of Workforce Development, and the Employment Security Commission

 

When:             Every Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Monday, August 31, 2009 until Thursday, October 29, 2009

                        * Closed for Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 7, 2009.

 

Where:            Northgate Mall (in the Sears parking lot at the Guess Road entrance)

Fast Facts:

·         In an effort to reach out to the community even more and assist with the high volume of traffic at the Durham JobLink Career Center, the City of Durham, the Durham JobLink Career Center, State of North Carolina Division of Workforce Development, and Employment Security Commission partnered earlier this summer to bring the JobLink Mobile Unit to Northgate Mall.

 

·         The service days and hours have now been extended due to customer demand and the volume of traffic seen thus far at the JobLink Mobile Unit.  The JobLink Mobile Unit began serving Durham residents from its Northgate Mall location on July 20, 2009.

 

·         Durham residents can receive job leads, conduct job searches, and submit online applications at the Durham JobLink Mobile Unit via express service.  

	*	If applicants are not currently registered with Durham JobLink, they should come prepared to receive this new "express service" after filling out a brief registration card.

 

·         Residents that need assistance with résumé writing, career search information, and assistance with job applications should continue to use the Durham JobLink Career Center at 1105 South Briggs Avenue, Durham.  

 

·         Durham job seekers applying for unemployment insurance benefits should also continue using the Durham JobLink Career Center so that they can obtain staff assistance for other services such as interviewing help, labor market information, and career counseling. 

 

·         Residents should also note that the Durham JobLink Satellite Sites are available at the following locations for self-service job search and résumé preparation:

	*	W.D. Hill Recreation Center, 1308 Fayetteville Street
	*	Durham County Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro Street
	*	Oxford Manor, 3633 Keystone Place
	*	Durham Technical Community College, 1637 Lawson Street
	*	Antioch Baptist Church, 1415 Holloway Street

 

·         The Durham JobLink Mobile Unit is a service provided by the Durham JobLink Career Center, which is a partnership that brings workers from across the community together with potential employers.  Durham's JobLink Career Center brings together an array of services geared to:

	*	Help area residents find employment; 
	*	Increase the education and training of the local workforce; and
	*	Assist area employers in filling job openings.
