Durham Seeks Citizen Input on 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan

Public Hearing at Nov. 2 City Council Meeting to Seek Resident Input on
City's Solid Waste Program for the Next Decade

DURHAM, N.C. - Durham residents interested in providing input into
revisions of the City of Durham's 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan
should mark their calendars now to attend a public hearing on this
issue, which will be held during the regularly scheduled City Council
Meeting on Monday, November 2, 2009.

The City's Department of Solid Waste Management previously held two
public meetings in July and August 2009 to solicit input in updating the
plan. By law, the City is required to update the 10-year plan every
three years. The current and proposed solid waste plan can be viewed on
the City's Web site at
www.durhamnc.gov/departments/solid/10_year_plan09.cfm.

Residents who are not able to attend the Nov. 2 public hearing may also
submit comments ahead of time. For more information or to provide
comments, contact Josephine Valencia, waste disposal division manager
with the City's Department of Solid Waste Management, at (919) 560-4186,
ext. 32253 or via e-mail at josephine.valencia at durhamnc.gov
