Brett
What you missed tonight was actually an INC Board meeting, not a regular
delegate meeting.
INC's new President, Tom Miller (who also served as INC's first President
26 years ago) is particularly dedicated to maintaining our 4th Tues meeting
tradition.
Stay tuned for a location announcement.

Happy New Year to all.
I was the alternate delegate for Old West Durham last year and am planning
on representing the neighborhood for the coming year on INC.
I would have liked to attend tonight's meeting but because of a previous
commitment I wasn't able to make it. Is the idea now to move the regular
meeting to Wednesday nights? Based on conversations last year I had assumed
the schedule would remain the same (4th Tuesday of the Month).
thanks,
bww

The INC Board will meet Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Andrea and Bill
Andersons’ home at 113 W. Markham Avenue in the Duke Park neighborhood.
Thanks to Bill and Andrea for hosting our meeting.
I would like for all new Board members to attend. These are, in addition
to me, Vice President, Scott Carter; Treasurer, Moe Rivera; Newsletter
Editor (Communications) Chairman, Colin Crossman; Immediate Past President,
Craigie Sanders, and Board members, Fred Foster and Erin Kennedy.
If at all possible, I would also like for last year’s members to attend as
well. These are Ken Gasch, Leslie Page, Rosemarie Kitchen, David Harris
and Myers Sugg.
Your presence will help us make the transition to the new year.
I would like to use this meeting to go over the resolutions we adopted
over the last year or so and to consider the resolution that is pending,
Bylaws changes. The resolutions are neatly recorded on the INC website. As you
read the resolutions, consider what we can do to give effect to the
resolutions we have adopted and what we should do to bring consideration of the
bylaws resolution to closure.
I also want to discuss with you the idea of having all member
neighborhoods complete a simple application form to establish their credentials and the
credentials of their delegates. This was a practice of INC distant past
and it is an idea I broached during our bylaws debate. I will have copies
of the sample form I passed out at the end of last year to assist us with
our consideration of this possibility.
There are a couple of housekeeping matters that we should discuss (money
and recruiting) and probably there are other matters that I am ignorant of
which we should take up. Those of you with experience please let us know
what we should add to our agenda.
News:
Craigie and I met today with Bertha Johnson of the city manager’s office.
The purpose was to discuss the program and format of a “Neighborhood
Coffee with Council.”
This is a wonderful idea that Craigie and Ms. Johnson hatched at the end
of last year. We are looking at holding this event on the last Saturday of
February. We’ll fill you in on Wednesday. Kudos to Craigie for this one.
I hope you have had a warm and happy holiday and that the holiday spirit
will last you all the year through.
Please respond to this email so we’ll know how many to expect. New Board
members, please include the full text of your email address so we can update
the board list.
I will provide an appropriate refreshment to kick off this new INC year.
Best wishes to all.
Tom Miller
