Subject: [Durham INC] Planned Community and Homeowners Association resource

This posting is for Homeowners Associations (HOA's), Planned Communities, Condos and Cooperatives and the people who live in or manage them.

CAI (Community Association Institute) is a wonderful resource.

Please see the information below and an opportunity to win a free trip to it's Annual Meeting in April.

While you do not need to be a member of CAI to get some free information, the benefits of having a membership are legion.

In fact, next month a Law Day http://www.cai-nc.org/cal2/CalendarGet.asp?disp=day&cal_id=216&m=2&y=2010&d=27 is being held locally for those who have questions about board responsibilities, assessment collections, mortgage and lien collection proceedings along with a update on a NC State Legislature study commission.

For more information please consider saving both www.CAI-NC.org (State chapter link) and http://www.caionline.org (National) as two of your favorites.

As always, if you need more information or have a question please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Win a Scholarship to CAI's National Conference in April
The Foundation is currently accepting applications for the Jerry Fien Memorial Scholarship, which provides funds for up to two homeowners to attend CAI's National Conference-including paid registration and up to $1,000 in travel and lodging expenses. The application deadline is Monday, Feb. 15, and recipient(s) will be notified by March 1. CAI's 59th National Conference will be held April 28-May 1, in Las Vegas.

The scholarship was established in honor of Jerry Fien's longstanding commitment to homeowner involvement in CAI. Robin Booth, of Lake Barrington, IL, was the Foundation's 2009 winner. Recognized for her commitment to the industry and for exhibiting leadership in her community and CAI chapter, Robin attended CAI's 58th National Conference in New Orleans.

Donate CAI Publications to Your Local Library Today
You can donate a complete package of CAI publications and resources to your local library through the Foundation's Adopt-a-Library program. The Adopt-a-Library program allows sponsors to provide local community libraries with current CAI publications that address a wide variety of homeowner and association board concerns. The tax-deductible cost of the package is only $350; the Foundation underwrites the remainder. Through this program, the local library receives publications valued at more than $1,500.

View a list of libraries that have already benefited from this unique program. Don't miss out on the opportunity to donate CAI publications for only $350 and take advantage of the positive public relations that can result from this partnership! For more information about this program please visit us online at Adopt-a-Library.

The Foundation is a nonprofit, research-driven group established in 1975 by Community Associations Institute. The Foundation supports and conducts research and makes that information available to industry professionals and volunteers involved in community association governance.
