[Durham INC] FW: Question- Neighborhood Engagement Workshop- Facilitator/Scribe information

Dear Neighbors:

 

Although time is short, interest the Neighborhood Engagement Workshop has
caused to need more volunteers to help facilitate the program.  We need a
volunteers who will keep basic notes of what is accomplished at the several
roundtable discussions so that the participants will be free of the burden
having to take notes while trying to engage.

 

Can you help?  The workshop is tomorrow at the Holton Center on Driver
Avenue from 10 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Facilitators and scribe volunteers
should plan to show up at 9:30 for some basic instruction.

We have close to 40 neighborhood reps signed up for the Neighborhood
Engagement Workshop on Saturday.  I really appreciate you sending out
reminders and communicating with folks.  Do you think you will be able to
provide 3 scribes for the event.  Please advise when you have a moment.

Tom- We're probably good with facilitators,  but could use a few more
scribes. I would also suggest that those folks who were going to facilitate,
participate and provide input.   What are your thoughts about that.

Good Morning,

 

I hope all is well.  Please find attached the facilitator/scribe guide,
draft agenda and powerpoint for the upcoming Neighborhood Engagement
Workshop scheduled for Saturday, February 27 (10 am - 1pm).  The agenda is
as follows:

 

*         City Council Comments- We hope to have a council member say a few
words at the beginning of the event

*         Budget Outlook FY 10/11- Bertha will present a 10 minute
powerpoint on the Budget process and answer questions

*         Process Overview- Ruby Hargrove-Monds will explain the input
session with neighborhood representatives-please bring a bell, if possible
(script is attached)

*         Input session- A facilitator (Karmisha, Vickie and Tom Miller or
INC rep) and scribe (need volunteers- maybe from INC/Tom Miller) will be
stationed at each flip chart (2-3) and will ask four questions and record
the answers (script/process/questions attached)

*         Break- during 10 minute break the facilitators will consolidate
the information from the flip charts and list common themes to be shared
with the larger group

*         Discuss themes- One facilitator should take the lead and begin
discussing common themes and entertain questions

*         Next steps- Bertha will discuss the next steps with the Budget
process

 

Please try to arrive by 9:30 am to assist with any last minute details.
I'll be communicating with you sometime next week about the event.  As
