Durham Closing N.C. Hwy. 147 for Overnight Pedestrian Bridge Work March
26 & 29

Work Continues on New Downtown Gateway Bridge; Work Will Temporarily
Alter Overnight Traffic on Durham Freeway 

 

DURHAM, N.C. - Work continues on the new R. Kelly Bryant, Jr. Pedestrian
Bridge with two more closures of N.C. Highway 147, the first of which is
planned for tomorrow night.

 

On Friday, March 26, the City of Durham's contractor will close N.C.
Highway 147 overnight to continue work on the new pedestrian bridge.
Traffic will be rerouted using Briggs and Alston Avenues as detours from
11 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, for crews to begin
pouring the concrete decking on the new pedestrian bridge.  

 

The second closure will be on Monday, March 29, and traffic will be
rerouted using the same detours as noted above from 11 p.m. until 5:30
a.m. on Tuesday, March 30.  However, if the weather is poor on Monday,
this second closure will be moved to Tuesday, March 30, from 11 p.m.
until 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31.  This closure is to finish
pouring the concrete decking on the new pedestrian bridge.
