Durham Closing N.C. Hwy. 147 for Overnight Pedestrian Bridge Work March
30, 31 & April 5

Three Overnight Closures Will Temporarily Alter Traffic on Durham
Freeway 

 

DURHAM, N.C. - Despite the inclement weather, work continues on the new
R. Kelly Bryant, Jr. Pedestrian Bridge with three more closures of N.C.
Highway 147, the first of which is planned for tomorrow night.  Due to
the poor weather, the highway closures announced last week have been
rescheduled for this week.

 

On Tuesday, March 30, the City of Durham's contractor will close N.C.
Highway 147 overnight to continue work on the new pedestrian bridge.
Traffic will be rerouted using Briggs and Alston Avenues as detours from
11 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31 for crews to begin
pouring concrete decking on the new pedestrian bridge.  

 

The second overnight closure will be on Wednesday, March 31 and traffic
will be rerouted using the same detours as noted above from 11 p.m.
until 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 1 for crews to finish pouring
concrete decking on the new pedestrian bridge.  

 

The third overnight closure will be on Monday, April 5 and traffic will
be rerouted using the same detours as noted above from 11 p.m. until
5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6 for crews to re-install the guardrail
inside the median.
