*Call for Entries for 8th Annual Golden Leaf Awards*

The 2010 Golden Leaf Awards team is looking for a few good properties. We
invite you to nominate a building, residence or landscape that deserves to
be recognized for innovative design or its contribution to the character of
the neighborhood. Durham residents and property owners who think their
properties have curb appeal are invited to participate.

The Durham Appearance Commission and Keep Durham Beautiful, Inc. are seeking
nominations from the community for properties that raise the bar for
excellence in design and maintenance in Durham. This prestigious award is
given annually to highlight the value that Durham puts on community
appearance. This year’s award ceremony will be held on September 30, 2010.

The deadline to submit nominations for this year’s award is Saturday, July
31, 2010. Nominations may be submitted in the following categories:

· *Single-Family Residential: to be awarded to new construction,
renovation or restoration of a single-family house or residential building
containing four units or fewer. *

· *Multi-Family Residential: to be awarded to new construction,
conversion or improvements to a multi-family residential property or
mixed-use property incorporating residential units. *

· *Commercial Properties: to be awarded for new construction, renovation
or adaptive reuse of non-residential properties. *

· *Landscape: to be awarded for landscape, hardscape or garden projects
at least one year old which have consistently maintained high standards of
upkeep and appearance.*

· *Keep Durham Beautiful Award: to be awarded to a person or group for
projects, programs or events that have engaged and inspired individuals to
take greater responsibility for their community environment.*

· *Sustainable Properties Awards: will be given for projects creating a
sustainable-built environment by incorporating green building principles in
the planning and development of projects. Projects must document these
principles in the areas of energy, design, site, water, and building
materials.*

· *People's Choice Award: new for this year, this award to be given to
one project selected by public vote from the nominees under considerations
for the above award categories.*
