Durham JobLink Mobile Unit Returns to Northgate Mall January 3

Express Job Referral and Free Workshops Will Be Provided Throughout January and February

 

What:              Durham JobLink Mobile Unit Returns to Northgate Mall with Express Job Referral Service and Free Workshops

 

Who:               Durham JobLink Career Center, Durham Workforce Development Board, City of Durham Office of Economic and Workforce Development, Northgate Mall, State of North Carolina Division of Workforce Development, and the Employment Security Commission

 

When:             Express Job Referral Service will be provided every Monday through Thursday in January and a portion of February from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

·         The weeks of January 3-6, January 10-13, January 18-20 (not open on January 17 due to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday), January 24-27, January 31-February 3, February 7-10, and February 14

 

"How to Sell Yourself on Paper" Workshop will be provided every Tuesday and Thursday in January from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

·          January 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27

Fast Facts:

·         In an effort to reach out to the community even more while their new office is being completed at Northgate Mall, the Durham JobLink Career Center is bringing back their Durham JobLink Mobile Unit to provide "Express Job Referral Service" throughout the month of January and a portion of February.

 

·         Durham residents can receive job leads, conduct job searches, and submit online applications at the Durham JobLink Mobile Unit via express service.  

o   If applicants are not currently registered with Durham JobLink, they should come prepared to register; registration is required in order to receive service.

 

·         In addition to the expedited job referral service, the Durham JobLink Mobile Unit will also provide free workshops on how to put together winning components to help get applications and resumes noticed by potential employers.

o   Participation in the "How to Sell Yourself on Paper" workshops is on a first-come, first-serve basis due to limited seating inside the Durham JobLink Mobile Unit. Interested participants may register in advance with the Mobile Unit to reserve their seat.

 

·         Residents that need assistance with résumé writing, career search information, and assistance with job applications should continue to use the Durham JobLink Career Center at 1105 South Briggs Ave., Durham.  

 

·         Durham job seekers applying for unemployment insurance benefits should also continue using the Durham JobLink Career Center so that they can obtain staff assistance for other services such as interviewing help, labor market information, and career counseling. 

 

·         Residents should also note that the Durham JobLink Satellite Sites are available at the following locations for self-service job search and résumé preparation:

	*	W.D. Hill Recreation Center, 1308 Fayetteville St.
	*	Durham County Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro St.
	*	Oxford Manor, 3633 Keystone Place
	*	Durham Technical Community College, 1637 Lawson St.
	*	Antioch Baptist Church, 1415 Holloway St.

 

·         The Durham JobLink Mobile Unit is a service provided by the Durham JobLink Career Center, which is a partnership that brings workers from across the community together with potential employers. Durham's JobLink Career Center brings together an array of services geared to:

	*	Help area residents find employment; 
	*	Increase the education and training of the local workforce; and
	*	Assist area employers in filling job openings.
