Fast Facts:

* The Durham City-County Planning Department has completed an
initial draft of the Fayetteville Street-University Land Use Update.
This update covers an area along Fayetteville Street, south of the
Durham Freeway, and the campus of North Carolina Central University. The
purpose of this update is to closely examine land use policies and
regulations in this area and provide recommendations for changes in land
use policy and/or zoning.

* Since June 2009, the department has hosted five public
workshops to receive input on land use policies for the area. This open
house is a capstone to these previous workshops and will present the
results of the input received to date as well as provide residents,
business owners, and property owners another opportunity to provide
input on the proposed land use policy changes.

* The initial draft of the Fayetteville Street-University Land
Use Update is currently available on the City's website at
www.DurhamNC.gov/departments/planning/fs_university_use_update.cfm. Hard
copies of the draft may also be viewed at the Customer Service Center of
the Durham City-County Planning Department at City Hall; the Main and
Stanford L. Warren branches of the Durham Public Library; and the
Student Union of North Carolina Central University.

* For additional information on this process or the open house,
contact Senior Planner Aaron Cain with the Durham City-County Planning
Department at (919) 560-4137, ext. 28226 or via e-mail at
