[Durham INC] A touching story about Randy Pickle

That is a wonderful story Mike.

I personally never met Randy, but over dinners, Shiflett talked to me about him all the time! He was obviously someone who cared about Durham, and people, so I'd just like to send an acknowledgment of his life having touched mine in a positive manner - via Shiflett.

Unfortunately I just received the email about the memorial service and can't get Mike on his cell phone, so I'll just be there in spirit.

Maybe we could plant a tree in his honor somewhere....?

I suspect many of us have lots of stories, but I really want to share this one from a neighbor in Watts Hospital.

Mike Woodard

I only met Randy Pickle once, but it was a memorable meeting and I'd like to share it.

This past Christmas I was building a play kitchen for my 2 year old daughter. I had nearly everything I needed except for a faucet for the sink. Buying a new one just seemed crazy, but I couldn't find a used one
anywhere.

I followed up on several leads from a last minute plea to the WHHNA list, but I didn't quite get what I was looking for, and I had pretty much given up hope. Randy and I had played phone tag earlier in the day,
but it seemed all sorts of logistical miracles would have to happen for us to meet up. My last call to him was to say that it was late and to not worry about it.

Either he never got the message or just decided to ignore it. Looking not unlike Santa himself, I found Randy at my door at 10:15 pm on
Christmas Eve holding a tiny little bar sink with matching faucet.

It was our Christmas miracle, and we had Randy Pickle to thank for it.
