Durham 911 Access for Parkwood Residents Repair Underway

Fiber Cut Disables Landline Access; Repair Still Underway With 8 p.m.
Estimated Completion

DURHAM, N.C. - An accidental cut earlier today to Frontier Communication
Corporation's fiber line at U.S. Highway 70 and Brier Creek Parkway has
disabled landline calls placed from Durham's Parkwood community,
including 911 calls into the Durham Emergency Communications Center.

According to James Soukup, director of the Durham Emergency
Communications Center, Frontier officials contacted the center with an
estimated repair completion timeframe of 8 p.m. this evening.

Should the repairs take longer than expected and an emergency occurs,
residents and businesses in the Parkwood community should still continue
to use their cell phones to contact the Durham Emergency Communications
Center at 911, to call the Parkwood Volunteer Fire Department at (919)
361-0927, or physically go to the Parkwood Volunteer Fire Department,
which is located at 1409 Seaton Rd., Durham.

When Frontier restores service later this evening, residents and
businesses will have a dial tone on their landline phones accordingly.

All further inquiries regarding the fiber cut and repair should be
directed to Karen Miller, media relations for the Southeast Region with
Frontier, at (914) 443-2449 or by e-mail at Karen.Miller at ftr.com.
