Durham City Hall Closes Due to Water Main Break

All Other City Offices Remain Open Until Normal Close of Business Today

 

DURHAM, N.C. - Due to a water main break on City Hall Plaza earlier this
afternoon, as of 3 p.m., Durham's City Hall has closed for the remainder
of the day.

 

The water main break has caused City Hall to lose water, which in turn
has caused the building's air conditioning units to cease functioning.
The water main break occurred when construction crews working on the
City Hall Plaza Street Improvement Project inadvertently hit the water
main line.

 

All other City departments and offices not located inside City Hall will
remain open until the normal close of business today.

 

For customers seeking to pay their utility bill this afternoon, they are
encouraged to make their payments from the City's website at 
www.DurhamNC.gov/_ecomm/ or to leave their payment in the Night
Depository Drop Off, which is located on the Mangum Street side of City
Hall.

 

Repairs are underway now and City Hall is expected to open under normal
business hours tomorrow beginning at 8 a.m.
