Alternatives Analysis Reports for Regional Transit Program Now Available

MPO Hosts Public Meetings to Give Residents the Opportunity to Learn
More and Provide Input

DURHAM, N.C. - The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning
Organization (DCHC MPO) is hosting open house sessions in Durham and
Chapel Hill where residents can provide input on the proposed
Alternatives Analysis Reports for the Triangle Regional Transit Program.

The multi-volume reports include the results of an extensive analysis of
the corridors identified in the 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan
adopted in April 2009. The first volume of each corridor report
summarizes the overall findings and identifies the most viable
alignments, transit technologies, and station locations for major
transit system investments in Durham, Orange, and Wake counties over the
next 24 years.

Open house sessions for residents to learn more about these proposed
plans are scheduled at the following locations:

*	August 29, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Chapel Hill Town Council Chambers,
405 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Chapel Hill
*	August 30, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Durham Station Transportation
Center, 515 W. Pettigrew St., Durham

A short presentation will be given periodically at each open house
session and staff will be available to discuss the proposed plans on a
one-on-one basis with the public.

The Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC), which is the policy-making
board of the DCHC MPO, will conduct a public hearing at its September 14
meeting in the Committee Room of City Hall, located at 101 City Hall
Plaza, Durham. The public is invited to provide comments on the plan at
this meeting. The time for the public hearing will be posted on the DCHC
MPO website at www.DCHCMPO.org following the TAC meeting on August 10.

Implementation of the transit projects adopted by the MPO and the
county-specific bus investment plans are dependent upon funding secured
through successful local referenda matched with federal, state, and
additional local funding.

Residents who are unable to attend an open house session or the public
hearing are encouraged to view the Alternatives Analysis Reports on the
project website at www.OurTransitFuture.com
<http://www.ourtransitfuture.com/> or contact Andy Henry at (919)
560-4366, ext. 36419. Residents may submit comments by e-mail to
Comments at DCHCMPO.org or by mail or in person to the Transportation
Department, located at 101 City Hall Plaza, Fourth Floor, Durham, N.C.
27701 until September 7.
