DSS Seeks Foster Parents
August 25, 2011
Durham, NC -
Durham County Department of Social Services is continuously seeking qualified adults to provide foster care to children while they are in the custody of the agency. There are 168 children currently in need of foster care in Durham. Adults willing to become foster parents are invited to attend an upcoming recruitment session hosted by Durham County DSS on September 12, October 10 or November 14, 2011. Each session will be held from 6:30 to 8:30p.m., at East Regional Library, 211 Lick Creek Lane. The main goal of foster care, a temporary living arrangement for abused, neglected and dependent children who need a safe place to live, is to reunite children with their families. However, there are situations where children in foster care become eligible for legal adoption. For more information about these foster care recruitment sessions or to offer a child a safe place to call home, call 919-560-8344 or email mswift at durhamcountync.gov. ###
