John

That is such an important point, and I will do my best to make it along
with the many others.

There's extensive research that shows the damage a vacant house does to
neighborhoods, especially those attempting to revitalize. Bet there's no study
at all of the effect of a vacant building on prime park real estate.

There's also plenty of data about the environmental effects of not picking
up after your dog. Wonder if anyone has ever studied what happens when a
large portion of park visitors use the bushes as a restroom.

eeeeeBill Anderson

That's fine. I'm happy to let you do all the talking. But one point that
I would make is this: Durham is working very hard through NIS to get
private property owners to maintain their properties. What kind of example
does the City set when it doesn't maintain its own properties?

I'm going to ask Mayor Bell to give me six minutes, but will probably need
only 5 and a half.

Less speakers might increase the odds he'll say OK.

Bare in mind we're not asking for the money, just the commitment. With
enough commitment, DPPI will begin the huge job of putting together the plan
that shows we are capable of accomplishing the renovation and maintaining it
for 20 years.

Much later, when everyone agrees the plan is solid, then we'll begin
asking for the funds.

Thanks greatly for your support, see you shortly,

eeeeeBill

If you're around tomorrow, come to City Hall at 1PM and support Bill
Anderson as he makes the case for saving the Duke Park Bathhouse with the City
Council.

He is speaking on behalf of not only Duke Park Neighorhood Association
and Duke Park Preservation Initiative (DPPI) but also INC!

As awesome as Bill is, he can't do this alone.

If you feel strongly about the Bathhouse, let your voice be heard!
