As we  gear up to support the Transit Referendum in Durham County (in November), the NC Sierra Club would like to invite you to join us for an urban walk on Saturday, October 15th. Our hike will follow the path of the proposed light rail track. Along the way we'll learn about the referendum and  transit plan. Local historian John Schelp, will also talk about the history of  Durham's trolley service, how neighborhoods have evolved over the years and how new residential projects will mesh with the future rail stations.

The details:

What: From home to rail stop. The future of transit: An urban walk
Where: Durham. The corner of 9th and Green St. (Parking along the streets)
When: Saturday, October 15th at 9:00am (Walk up to railroad tracks and back; should last a little more than an hour)
Weather forecast: Sunny with high of 74

We're going to discover new paths to our schools, grocery stores, homes... the list is infinite. I hope you'll join us on Saturday the 15th.

See you soon.
